No decision yet on booster dose of COVID-19: Health Minister

Health Minister Zahid Malek said, “No decision has been taken yet on the booster dose of the corona vaccine. We will think about booster doses after vaccinating everyone, including marginalized people. The decision will be taken after discussions with the National Vaccine Committee on booster doses, ”he said at the handover ceremony of a gift of astrageneca from Saudi Arabia at the state guest house Padma on Tuesday.

Saudi Arabia has gifted 1.5 million astragenerative vaccines to Bangladesh. The vaccine was handed over to the Minister of Health and Foreign Affairs by the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Isa Youssef Isa Alduhailan.

The health minister said, “We have bought 21 crore vaccines. Of this, 11 crore vaccines have arrived in the country. Bangladesh has received 90 million vaccines under CoVAX. Every day we are vaccinating 1.5 million people. But we have the capacity to vaccinate 6 million people every day. ”

Zahid Malek said, “Quarantine is needed when going to Saudi Arabia with the vaccines of Sinovac and Sinoform. We urge Saudi Arabia to take action. ”

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen and Health Secretary Lokman Hossain Mia were present on the occasion.
