BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) continues to bolster its exchange-traded fund (ETF) distribution capabilities with the recent appointment of John Altas in the newly-created role of ETF Specialist for the Nordic region.
Based in Stockholm, Altas joined the company on January 16th and will report functionally to Claus Hecher, Regional ETF Head of Sales for Northern Europe, and locally to Morten Bentsen, Head of Distribution for BNP Paribas Asset Management in the Nordic region.
Prior to joining BNPP AM, Altas spent a decade in the asset management industry, working as a Relationship Manager and Sales Support Manager at BlackRock.
At BNPP AM, Altas will focus on developing the company’s ETF client base in the Nordic region and providing clients with specialist expertise in sustainable ETFs and index investment solutions. Morten Bentsen, Head of Distribution for BNP Paribas AM in the Nordic region, noted that Altas’ appointment is a key step in the continued strengthening of BNPP AM’s position in the Nordic region.
“We are seeing growing demand for ESG-focused ETF strategies and are continuing to expand our offering, and John’s experience will be key as we bring a broader range of sustainable and thematic solutions to our regional client base,” Bentsen said.
Claus Hecher, Regional ETF Head of Sales for Northern Europe, added that growing client demand for ESG ETFs has led to strong growth for BNPP AM’s thematic and sustainable index solutions business in several European countries, and that Altas’ appointment will be instrumental to the company’s expansion in the Nordic region.
BNPP AM currently manages ETF and index fund assets totalling EUR 39 billion, including thematic and sustainable products. With the addition of Altas to the team, the company is well-positioned to continue growing its presence in the Nordic region and meeting the increasing demand for sustainable investment options.
