Protests across the country demanding an end to violence against women

The protest was held on Thursday to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Thousands marched on the streets of Mexico City, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris and London. Protests also took place in Chile, Venezuela, Bolivia, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia.
About 10 women are killed every day in Mexico. Protesters calling for an end to violence against women in the country carried banners reading, “They are not dead, they have been killed.”
Protests erupted in the streets of Istanbul, urging the Turkish government to return to an international agreement on the protection of women. The situation became heated.
According to human rights groups, 345 women have been killed in Turkey so far this year.

According to the United Nations Regional Commission, at least 4,091 women have died as a result of gender-based violence in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2020.
