Viaplay commissions new Polish comedy-drama series ‘Stroke’
Viaplay, the Nordic streaming service, has announced the commission of a new eight-part comedy-drama series, titled ‘Stroke’, which will premiere exclusively on the platform in 2023. The series, created by acclaimed Polish playwright and screenwriter Paweł Demirski, tells the story of Jacek Poniedziałek, a popular TV host and restaurant critic, whose life takes a dramatic turn after suffering a stroke.

Inspiration behind ‘Stroke’
Paweł Demirski, the creator of ‘Stroke’, says he came up with the idea for the series in spring 2019, long before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. According to him, the series offers a new and different view of the world, one of vitality and optimism, where the best is yet to come, and the last word has not been said. He adds that he is pleased to have brought this idea to life with the help of Viaplay.
