Lahore is now second on the list of polluted cities

Lahore, the capital of Pakistan’s Punjab province, is the second most polluted city in the world. The daily Dawn Online reported that the Pakistani city had risen to the top last Wednesday afternoon. But later in the evening, with some improvement in air quality, Lahore moved to second place in the index. New Delhi, the capital of India, topped the index again.

China’s Wuhan ranks third on the list of polluted cities, according to air pollution data released by the US Air Quality Index (AQI). The fourth place in the air index is the city of Krasnoyarsk in Russia. Kolkata, another city in India, is in fifth place.

The air pollution factor in the air in Lahore on Wednesday afternoon was 37 points. This means that the air quality in Lahore was in the dangerous category then. However, at the end of the day there is some improvement in the air. At 9:15 pm local time that day, the measure of PM was 226 points.

However this calculation was average. The weather was even worse in some parts of Lahore on Wednesday. On that day, Kot Lakhpat, an industrial area of ​​Lahore, exceeded the PM scale by 450 points. In addition, the city’s Anarkali Bazar, Township and Fatehgarh areas had an air quality index of more than 300 points.
